How to turn $100 into $1,000,000
Book review, but through actions!
Hi!
I found this book, “How to Turn $100 into $1,000,000: Earn! Save! Invest!” in my parents’ house. Apparently, my dad bought it for my brother (re: he’s in 8th grade) to use…anyways, as someone who wants to save up for a car and a potential LASIK surgery and doesn’t know much about finances, this book for children seemed like it could be the right fit.
Why?
My why is to gain knowledge and be aware of decisions I can make towards a financially stronger future in a way that doesn’t make me feel like I’m behind, doesn’t compare me with others, and doesn’t paint the road to success as one composed mostly of sacrifice –– aka: I wanna get rich and have fun on the way!
The book’s why is, besides probably making money for the authors, to persuade us that access to more money coupled with conscious spending habits can help create a life filled with more freedom, safety, and a greater ability to help others.
Of course, any reader can choose any number of million to set as their goal (ie. “I would rather be a $10 millionaire than a $1m, so that is my goal”) and while that is a valid approach, I’m choosing to focus more on the habits and actions I can build and take over a specific $ goal as I’m just starting out on my personal finance education journey :)
Later on, as my knowledge and situation advance, maybe specific monetary goals will be more helpful, but who knows!
How?
I will read through this book and post updates here. I’ll measure success based on how much money I save/spend this month compared to last month and if my mood / feelings / outlook remains optimistic or becomes stressed.
So far, I feel pretty good –– let’s see what story the numbers tell in a month (November 11, 2021).
Thank you for reading.
PS. The book “might” be available for free at the Library Genesis…🙂
